Written Statement

After a hot summer full of heartache and uncertainty, I was reminded just how vulnerable our natural world is. This collection of lifeless plants – brown, brittle and beautiful – provide us with a chance to stop and contemplate their fragility.

Aesthetically, the series is held together through flowing lines and minimal colour. The objects have been simply placed against a black background in the studio, lit with a single spotlight and cropped tightly in order to highlight their delicate perfection.
