Written Statement

Texture has been a key theme in a lot of my work, past and present. Equipped with a professional drone I am able to capture rare images. I chose to capture this image on a particularly stormy day to ensure the white wash stands out from the beautiful ocean colour. I have used a top-down perspective to capture the aftermath of the passing wave and due to the fixed f-stop of the camera, a shutter speed of 1/80 was chosen. I love the way the wave draws lines of white water as if to form a web that the surfer is stuck in, giving you a feeling they’re trapped in the photograph.
