In today’s world, it’s very easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of daily life. For me, photography is an escape from this; and I find that some time alone going out taking pictures, particularly landscapes, to be a great opportunity to have a breather and take in the beauty of the world around us at the same time.
I have always had a passion for landscapes, and I can truly say that there is nothing more satisfying than when you get a nice shot that you are really happy with. (I must say, it was quite hard for me to narrow down to three choices!)
The first shot is one of Shipwreck Rock at Bennion Beach. This spot is usually pretty quiet so is a great place take in the salty air and chill out! (Canon 80D 17mm Sigma 17–50 f/2.8 ISO 100 f/8 30 seconds)
The second shot is at North Beach. I was just about to pick up the tripod and move to a different spot right as the sun fell behind the clouds to produce these awesome glowing rays, I had to stay and capture it because it only lasted for a minute or two! For this photo I bracketed three separate exposures (EV-3, EV0 and EV+3) to create a HDR image, which I then merged and processed in Lightroom. I also attached a NiSi 6 stop ND with built in CPL to slow down my exposures. (Canon 80D 17mm Sigma 17–50 f/2.8 ISO 100 f/13 1/5″, 0.8″, 3.2″ NiSi ND64+CPL)
The final image is from Burns Beach. The day of this photo was really miserable and wet, but by some miracle it dried up for a couple hours later on in the day and I was able to capture this amazing sunset! This image is also HDR. (Canon 80D 11mm Tokina 11-20 f/2.8 ISO 100 f/8 1″, 4″, 15″ NiSi ND64+CPL)
