Winged Neighbours

Not far from where I live is a strange group of residents – they all have wings! A few years ago, the grey-headed flying foxes moved into an area near my school. These curious creatures are the largest bats in Australia and, even though there are hundreds living in my neighbourhood, they are actually under threat and disappearing from Australia.

I feel very lucky they have chosen to live near me. I spent my afternoon watching the bats just as they started waking up, before they left to go and forage for food. They like to eat blossoms and fruit. It was hard to get a good shot of them flying as they were moving very fast in the sky. I hope you like my photos.
