I live on five acres in the rural area of Darwin. Most of our block is bush. I chose to photograph a place in our front garden. The photos show parts of a poinciana tree that was planted when I was born. My tree is nine years old, like me.
When my parents told me that they were going to sell our house, I went out and scratched my name into my tree because it’s my tree.
I took another picture of what you can see when you sit in my tree. I like that it’s strong enough to hold me and that my little brother can’t get up there.
I took the last picture at night because it’s a bit scary at night. I had to use my head torch to light it up.
It’s the dry season, so my tree doesn’t look as good as in the wet when it has heaps of beautiful fine green leaves and sometimes flowers.
I just used automatic camera settings.
